How to choose the right eye shadow colors?

Instead of choosing shades that match your prom dress, select eye shadow hues that complement your natural eye color. You may choose contrasting eye shadow colors to make your eyes pop. Almost any color works well with brown eyes. If you have blue eyes, turquoise and metallic colors help them sparkle and pop. For those of you with green eyes, a playful purple shade works beautifully, as do gold and copper.

If you wish to get noticed, you can go for smoky eyes. Metallic colors may not be the best colors to wear on a daily basis, but they're just what you want on prom night. First, apply an eye shadow base to the whole lid of the eye, from the root of the lash to the bottom of the eyebrow area. Then you can apply your eyeliner. If you're going for a typical black, brown or gray smoky eye, apply liner in one of those colors above the upper lash line, drawing line thicker in the middle of eye. After that, you can use a brush to take your medium shade and sweep over your smudged liner to fade the color on the round part of the eye.
